We look forward to working with Forbes and his new team to take Scottish Swimming to the next level with Glasgow 2014 the first destination on that journey.Kansas is home to just 5 military bases, three of which belong to the Air Force and 2 that belong to the Army.Įach base in Kansas serves a different purpose, from Infantry training to Military Police work to supporting branch missions.Įach base also has a rich history behind it, with some bases starting as early as the mid-1800s.īelow is a brief rundown of each of the five military bases in Kansas. ‘Forbes Dunlop has made a tremendous 10 year contribution to the development of sportscotland towards being a world class organisation. Stewart Harris, CEO sportscotland commented, Dunlop has held roles at sportscotland since 2002, including Lead Manager Achieving Excellence from 2004 – 2009 and Partnership Manager, Achieving Excellence from 2002 – 2004. With a clear understanding of governing bodies like Scottish Swimming I believe that he has the right set of skills and experience to lead the organisation into and through its next exciting period of development, and I am delighted to welcome him to the team on behalf of the Scottish Swimming staff, board and council.’ĭunlop leaves his current role as Head of Sporting Pathways at sportscotland to take up post in the New Year, succeeding Ashley Howard, who left Scottish Swimming after eight successful years on 30 November to relocate to Canada. Maureen Campbell, Chair of the Scottish Swimming Board, is pleased about the appointment: ‘Forbes has demonstrated the leadership, experiences and qualities that Scottish Swimming require to ensure optimal delivery in all aspects come 2014, coupled with the vision and innovation to develop and implement Scottish Swimming’s next strategic plan. He has also taught, coached and tutored swimming coach education courses and was part of the team that helped secure the National Swimming Academy at the University of Stirling as a location for one of British Swimming’s Intensive Training Centres.ĭunlop has served on the Board of Directors, recently as Chairman, of the British Paralympic Performance Services in the lead into the 2012 Paralympic Games. I am very much looking forward to getting into post and meeting and working with the partner organisations, volunteers, coaches, swimmers and clubs that are critical to the on- going success of swimming in Scotland.’ĭunlop has extensive experience of swimming, not least of all having swum for Scotland on many occasions during the 1990s. ‘I am thrilled to be offered this opportunity and it is going to be a real privilege to lead the team at Scottish Swimming.
